March New Account Promos

Banks make money… with their customers money. That’s no secret, that’s how just about every bank works. In order to attract new customers, they aren’t afraid to spend some big $$$ and offer some nice promos to help convince you to choose them.

Each month, I like to look out for any promos worth considering and let my audience know about them. A few factors I consider in finding the good offers are:

1) is it attainable (under $3,000), or do you need to contribute $25,000 to get a bonus?

2) Is the bank reputable or is it a small no nome bank with no reviews?

3) Does this account have any fees? Nowadays, you shouldn’t be paying for basic checking and savings accounts. There’s just so many free options!

Here are some offers for March I thought seemed like a good deal.

SoFi $25 up to $325

I became a SoFi customer in 2021, when I got married and it was time to combine my finances with my wife. Since then, I’ve converted most of my friend and family. This offer comes with some very attractive looking rates on both accounts. Currently, they pay me .5% on checking accounts and 4.6% on a high yield savings account with direct deposit.

If that’s not great enough, they have 2 bonuses for new customers. First, you can earn $25 for simply opening a checking and a savings account. For the second, you must setup direct deposit to earn an additional bonus from $50 to $300 - depending on the deposit totals. You can find more details for both of these bonuses here.

Fifth Third Bank $325

This is a sweet, easy, deal to score. All you have to do is open a qualified checking account by 3/31/2024 and make direct deposits totaling $500, or more, within 90 days of opening your new account. You can find more details for this offer here. Please note, this is a checking account that only offers interest of .01% APY.

Trust $400

Now through June 26, 2024, you can earn a $400 bonus from Truist! This one has two requirements - 1) receive at least one qualifying direct deposit of $500 or more AND 2) complete at least 15 qualifying debit card purchases within 90 days of opening your new account. You will need code “TRUIST400DC24” and you can find full details for this offer here. Please note this account comes with a monthly fee but there are various ways to get that waived.

Citi $300

This deal runs through July 8, 2024 and you won’t need a code for this one. The requirements are open a new eligible checking account with Enhanced Direct Deposits and complete 2 qualified direct deposits that total $1,500 or more within the first 90 days. Once you’ve completed the required activities, you will receive your $300 bonus within the next 30 days. You can find more details for this promo here.
