Happy New Year everyone!

If you’re here, it’s likely because you’re someone taking control of your financial freedom. What to invest in? Which account do I use? How much should I contribute? This was me nearly a decade ago when I first started learning about personal finance and changing my career to tax. I’m hosting a free class for people with the questions above, keep an eye out for more details soon!

Accounts with Bonuses January 2024

Every month, I do some research into bonuses offered for opening new accounts. I try to limit my search to promos that the every day person can earn. By that I mean you don’t need to deposit $50,000 to earn $300… Yes, believe it or not those account “bonuses” exist. Here is what I found for April:

SoFi $25 - $325

I became a SoFi customer in 2021, since then I’ve converted my spouse and most of my family. This offer comes with some very attractive looking rates on both accounts. Currently, they pay .5% on checking accounts and 4.5% on a high yield savings account. It’s just like a normal savings account, just pays a bit more in interest.

If that’s not great enough, they have 2 bonuses for new customers. First, you can earn $25 for simply opening a checking and a savings account. For the second, you must setup direct deposit to earn an additional bonus from $50 to $300 - depending on the deposit totals. You can find more details for both of these bonuses here.

Wells Fargo - $300

Open a Wells Fargo Everyday Checking account with minimum opening deposit of $25. Next, receive a total of $1,000 or more in qualifying deposits within 90 days to receive a $300 bonus. It doesn’t come with a higher than average interest rate like the first option, but it’s a decent bonus that should be easy to earn. For more details, click here. (This offer is only available until 1/9/24)

Chase - $200

This last offer is an easy one to earn. To qualify for this bonus, open a new checking account and make at least $500 in qualifying direct deposits within 90 days to earn $200! Again, this checking account probably wouldn’t be my first choice when it comes to high interest rates. But this bonus is so easy to get its hard to look away. Trying to get your financial life in order can be intimidating. It can get very complex very quickly. But it doesn’t all have to be hard, sometimes it can be as simple as changing to a new checking or savings account and earning some interest every month. Start your new year by making some money moves 😎.

See you,
